Terms of use and Privacy Policy

This policy applies to info that Motorift.com / Developer Joshua Willuhn / and affiliates ("we") collect when you use our websites, apps and other online services including third party products and services such as those from Google and Mapbox that integrate with our services.

This policy is intended to help you understand what data we collect, why we collect it, what we do with it and your options regarding it.

This app is intended for adults 18+ in the USA. We hope to serve more countries when we can afford to.

You must be 18 to use motorift.

Information we collect

Motorift.com is primarily a GPS tracking app to help you keep your friends and family updated with your location on motorcycle adventures. That means we collect GPS tracks while you ride your motorcycle and give you sharing options including public sharing options.

The data motorift collects stays on your phone, our web servers "the cloud" or the web servers of our third party affiliates.

We don't sell that data or use it for advertising purposes.

Motorift charges to store your data and provide you tools to protect it even while recording data and using it yourself. We don't intend to partner with third parties who sell your data.

To provide you the best product possible some data such as your IP address, account information and device model information is used to track problems and improve app quality. This information gets shared with third parties, Google Firebase and Mapbox. They use it to improve their products and attach anonymous IDs with it so it isn't identifiable back to you.

To the best of my knowledge they do not sell your data.

You can opt out of Mapbox data telemetry from any in app screen with a map on it. You'll see a Mapbox logo in the lower left corner, pressing the circled letter I next to it will open a telemetry screen to opt out.

Other information collected by motorift apps include IMU or motion profile data that helps you visualize your riding style and understand it better.

Whether you live in California or not we will delete your data without fear of repercussion to you with a simple email request to josh@motorift.com and write "Delete my account" as the subject.

Payment information

We use third party payment systems from Google (in app) and Stripe (online) to process your payments to us. This helps us stay PCI compliant and help ensure your financial security. We don't actually have access to your card information only third party processors even when entering it in the app, it goes to Google not us. Google forces us to use their payment gateway to serve customers in the Google Play Store we do not have a choice in the matter.

We use the information we collect to serve you directly.

Storing your data isn't free and motorift's premium product is charging you to store that data. Because of that we don't use it in any way that isn't to serve you directly.

We ask non USA customers to refrain from using this app.

Motorift doesn't have a system in place to verify you are in the USA because we'd have to look at everyone's location and analyze where every user is located. That doesn't seem very fair to privacy focused consumers in the USA so at this time we don't serve Europe or other countries.

Law enforcement

We require a subpoena, court order or warrant to even attempt to share information with law enforcement. Unless legally prohibited we will make every attempt possible to contact you before sharing that information. To date this has never happened and we hope it never will.

Your choices about how we collect information

If your settings are to "not" share with Mapbox, and you have in app "Live Tracking" turned off, the data recorded stays on your phone until you select "cloud sync" and save it to your cloud account.

Driving is dangerous

Using your phone while driving is distracting and this app is designed to record data in the background so you don't have to touch the app while you're driving.

By using this app you use it at your own discretion and agree you are solely responsible for any damages to property including your computer system or loss of data that results from use.
